IPL3. Day 16. Match.23. Kolkatta Knight Riders Vs. Kings XI Punjab

Match of the back benchers. Kolkatta Knight Riders 183 for 5 beat Kings XI Punjab 144 for 6 by 39 runs. Kolkatta Knight Riders are back on track.

KKR batting first made a spirited 183 for 5. Ganguly for the first time in the IPL3. played fluently for his 4th fifty in IPL. In fact this fifty of 40 deliveries, came after his third fifty in 2008.Manoj Tiwary played beautifully for his unbeaten 75 in 47. Shrivatsava and Irfan Pathan claimed 2 wickets each and Piyush Chawla selected for WC T20, over Amit Mishra bowled miserably for 4.0.35.1. Lee in his first match was off colour with 4.0.39.0. Irfan at 4.0.42.2, gave away his usual quota of runs.

Kings XI in their turn had nothing to offer and lost tamely by 39 runs. Kings XI seem to be just going through the motions. There were nothing of note other than a short cameo from Irfan Pathan scoring 22 of 14. Seven bowlers were in view from KKR. Bond bowled with venom 4.0.24.2. Agarkar picked up two at 4.0.32.2 Mathews and Gayle had one each. The match was so boring, there is really nothing to write about. Of the Srilankans, Mahela is woefully out of form and really need a rest. Sangakara is nowhere at his best. His captaincy was also clueless.

Any way an advise to Kings XI owners. You are all industrialists. Your stocks in IPL have plummeted and have reached the stop loss stage. Exit that this stage. As far as the Indian WC T20 team is concerned, two non performers from Kings XI, Yuvraj and Piyush Chawla are in the team and should thank their lucky stars. My heart once again bleeds for good performers like Virat Kohli, Manish Pandey, Saurab Tiwary and Amit Mishra, who lost the bus for no fault of theirs, where as some continue because of the big name they carry. Sorry state of affairs.
