ICC-CWC-2011. QF.1. Pakistan vs West Indies.

Pakistan 113 for no loss, crushed West Indies 112 all out, by a massive ten wickets margin in the first Quarter Finals of CWC 2011, played at Mirpur, Dacca. Pakistan are now just two games away, from repeating the heroics of Imran and his his warriors of 1992.

Between the three of them, the Pakistani spinners Hafeez, Afridi and Ajmal, had an enviable figures of 27.3-5-64-8, which broke the back of the West Indies. West Indies were routed to a low 112 all out in 43.3 overs. Other than a laborious 24 of 68 by Sarwan and still slower 44 of 106 by Chandrapaul, no West Indian batsmen did any thing of note. Their approach to the Pakistani spin trio was pathetic. Gul 7-1-13-1, Hafeez 10-3-16-2, Afridi 9.3-1-30-4, Ajmal 8-1-18-2 ans Razzaq 3-1-4-1, all made merry.

There was no devil in the wicket, which was more than amply demonstrated by the Pakistanis, when they reached the target with all wickets to spare in twenty overs. Hafeez 61 of 64 balls and Kamran Akmal 47 of 61, waltzed their way to victory.

The Pakistanis are getting stronger and stronger as the tournament progresses. It will require an all round cricketing performance by their opponents, to stop them. Good for Afridi the leading wicket taker in the CWC 2011 till now.
