ICC-CWC2011. QF4. Sri Lanka vs England

England 229 for 6 lost to Sri Lanka 231 for no loss, by ten wickets, to set up a Home Semi Final against New Zealand.

Dilshan unbeaten on 108 and Taranga unbeaten on 102, set an emphatic seal on Sri Lanka's semifinal entry to be played at Premadasa stadium, Colombo on Tuesday the 29th of March. The loss was a correct index for the chaotic performance by the English through out the tournament.

Trott made a laborious 86 and Morgan a chancy 50 to set up a testing total of 230, at a venue where run chases have always been difficult. Sri Lankan openers went about methodically, to prove the notion wrong, and sauntered to victory, by ten wickets and a massive 63 balls to spare.

The Sri Lankan bowlers, in spite of a bagful of dropped sitters, bowled manfully to restrict the English to below par score. Murali bowled at his usual best to pick 2 for 54. Malinga, Dilshan, Mathews and Mendis took a wicket each.

Three Sub Continent teams are in the Semi Finals. It will only be fair that the World Cup 2011 is taken by one of them. All the Semi Finalists are equally strong, and the spectators and cricket enthusiasts are in for a real treat. Let the best team on the day win. Who ever loses need not feel crest fallen, as all the semifinalists are championship material, and that's the reason why they are in the semis.
